Awkward: Hand Grip for Leica D-Lux 4:
I think this hand grip is a futile attempt to make the D-Lux 4 as portable as true pocket and travel cameras. You’ve got to accept that it just isn’t. It’s almost small enough to operate with one hand — but not quite. You can’t quite get the right grip on it, and that makes all the difference. The camera tends to slip out of your hand if you don’t use two hands, and it might land on the pavement on the street as my Leica D-Lux 4 once did when we were taking our pets for a walk. I didn’t choose the D-Lux 4 last summer as the Leica to take to Europe on the Queen Mary 2.Instead I chose the Leica V-Lux 20, which I also own. It’s lighter and more handy. You really can operate that[[ASIN:B004VTQFHS Leica V-LUX 20 Digital Camera Battery Charger – TechFuel® AC & DC Compatible Travel Battery Charger]] camera with just one hand. The V-Lux 20 also has a nice hand strap. The D-Lux 4 doesn’t.

Note: I still keep a D-Lux 4 as a backup Leica in case the V-Lux 20 breaks as it did on the way back from the trip to Europe last summer. I think I’ll see the hand grip, though. I’d never use it. It makes the D-Lux 4 even more bulky and hard to carry around.
