Cut Out The Section on London: Frommer’s England and the Best of Wales 22nd Edition
This book is good for learning lots of new facts about Great Britain outside London. I read about the Red Funnel that I photographed form the Queen Mary last summer. It’s a ferry that goes from Southampton to the Isle of Wight in one hour. The Lazy Cow that I photographed from the shore excursion bus in Salisbury right across from the Cathedral turns out to be a steakhouse and an inn with suites. England has a Jurassic Coast where you can dig up dinosaur bones. Frommer’s teaches me a new British word “fossilist”. And Bath has a Jane Austen Center where they show movies based on her novels.
But if you own Frommer’s London 2013, don’t bother to read the section on London in this book. It seems to be almost an exact repeat. It uses the exact same words for Churchill’s War Rooms and the Churchill Museum, the Imperial War Museum, the Savoy Hotel, and the Savoy Grill — places that I want to see. I guess Frommer’s doesn’t expect you to purchase both guidebooks at once.[[ASIN:1118288629 Frommer’s London 2013 (Frommer’s Color Complete)]]
