We attended the International Folk Art Festival on the weekend of July 12-13 in Santa Fe for the first time. Vendors had stands set up all over the Santa Fe Plaza area, spilling out almost to the surrounding parking lots. We patronized one on Water Street next to the Santa Fe Arcade and Plaza Galleria. A lady with a British accent sold me two bracelets. The card that came with them said that they were lilybeads as described on lilybead.com. Guatemalan Indian ladies from the heart of Mayan Lake Atitian made them by hand. The profits are sent back to Guatemala to help the artists overcome poverty. I bought the 12 strands design which I show in the picture for this review. All the other merchants took advantage of the situation, though, and put their merchandise outside, too. We also bought a trilobyte fossil, though that had nothing to do with the festival.
