The Royal Inn was an older property that we came upon for the first time by chance in Sulphur Springs, then noticed that it was part of a budget chain. We came upon it very late one night at midnight and were anxious to bunk down anywhere at all. We didn’t care about niceties and this place doesn’t have many. The proprietress turned on the A/C in a hot, stuffy room. It took awhile but I was amazed that by morning the place was cold. We didn’t even attempt to take a bath in the dingy bathroom with the threadbare towels. The mattress felt totally flimsy. It threatened to collapse. The room was tiny with hardly any space for luggage. We didn’t hang around to find out if they offered breakfast. We just hurried to McDonalds.
