When we visited the Del last May on Coronado we discovered that the cottage next door with the extensive flower and herb gardens was supposed to be the one-time residence of Wallis Simpson before she married the King of England and forced him to abdicate. It’s right on the beach. It’s a whole continent and a whole ocean away from England. But it all has echoes even as far away as this.
