Why Does Nobody In Germany Believe in Guest Laundries? 11/28/12
We stayed at many hotels in Germany from the Best Western Park Hotel in Potsdam to the Dorint in Weimar to the Hilton Nuremberg to the Best Western Imlauer in Salzburg to the Mandarin Oriental in Munich to Hotel Lenz in Fulda to the Best Western St. Raphael in Hamburg. Although several offered valet laundry, none had guest laundries operated by coins that the guests could use when they wanted. In this respect they were different from the Queen Mary 2 which did have guest laundries on the passenger decks as well as valet laundry.
What do the German hotels expect you to do with your dirty clothes? Maybe if you were staying at a location for several days and it was actually WARM you might be able to wash laundry in your hotel sink. But we were staying most places only a night or two. Though it was July, it wasn’t very warm. In fact, it was rainy all the way until we got to Munich. How would our laundry dry?
